Only time will tell

There was a lot of hue and cry when two top officials came to Sri Lanka to inspect the venues for the 2017 Asian Youth Games. The two officials were taken to the venues in Hambantota and they were very keen to see the cricket stadium, where a lot of international games were played in the recent past. Unfortunately the lift to take the VIP to the higher echelons of the pavilion was not functioning and they had to climb the stairs. The stairs had not been maintained as it was scattered with bird droppings. In exasperation one of them called out to the local official: “Is this the way that such a splendid pavilion is being maintained?” Could this turn out to be a set back for the 2017 Asian Youth Games? Only time will tell.
Being cautious
A leading press officer was not permitted to enter an ex-co meeting at the Citadel. The reason for him not being admitted to the gathering is that he had been writing some unwanted comments about the sport. There was a hurried meeting amongst the officials and it has been learnt that he was later admitted to the meeting. Perhaps they did not want to rile him up and come under fire again!
No support
A court order was issued last week to suspend the Annual General Meeting of a leading sport. A meeting was called to discuss the issue. Out of the 29 members in the body only two turned up! Could this be the support that the present boss of the sport is having? All this does not augur well for the sport.
Be faithful darlings
There is a tug-o’-war between two officials who are vying for a top post in the international scene. One of these officials hosted a party to two top visiting officials in order to curry favour with them for a top event to be held in 2017. Naturally there was a big gathering at the get-together but it did not go off well with the other official. Naturally he berated lot of them for attending the party. His consensus was that these officials should be faithful to him and only him and not the other.
All is well
A maintenance officer at the Citadel was caught napping recently. Later it had been found out that he had been under the influence of liquor. How did officials come to this decision? Even the Citadel has CCTV cameras fixed inside their office and the cameras had caught this officer knocking off a couple drinks. But the chances are that he will not be pulled up nor will he be apprehended because he is working at the house of a top official of the sport. So as the saying goes: All’s well!
Bad omen?
Still on the subject the press was invited to a party to brief them about what had taken place at the meeting. All the pressmen were sure that the goodies will be served out at the meeting. They were shocked beyond words when they were treated to a single pattie and a drink. Could this be a bad omen for things to come?
