Hemas Holdings PLC, in an announcement to the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) said that Husein Esufally has relinquished the office of CEO on 31st March, 2014 and assumed non executive directorship status. “Mr. Steven Enderby – Deputy CEO was elevated to the status of Group CEO as at date,” the announcement said.
The present Board of Directors of Hemas Holdings PLC comprises Husein N. Esufally – Chairman, Steven M Enderby – CEO, and as directors – Abbasally N. Esufally, Imtiaz A.H. Esufally, Murtaza A.H. Esufally, Maithri E. Wickremesinghe, Pradipta K. Mohapatra, Ramabadran Gopalakrishan, Dinesh S. Weerakkody, Dr. Sumitha A. B. Ekanayake and W. Malinga De Fonseka Arsakularatne.
Overseas Realty PLC
Pravir Samarasinghe has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Overseas Realty (Ceylon) PLC, as a Director, with effect from 31st March 2014, the company announced to the CSE.
“Mr. Pravir Samarasinghe functions as the Group Chief Executive Officer of Overseas Realty (Ceylon) PLC since his appointment on 10th March 2011. He has 28 years of professional and commercial experience and has served on the Board of Directors of several publicly listed and unlisted corporates,” the announcement said, adding that he is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
He is the Chairman of the Industrial Association of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Institute of Directors and EFC Affiliated Group of Companies. He is also a Committee member of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and Employees’ Federation of Ceylon, Past President CIMA Sri Lanka Division and former Council Member CIMA (UK), the announcement added.
Commercial Credit and Finance PLC
Kenneth Dan Vander Weele and Patrick Thomas Fisher were appointed as Directors of Commercial Credit and Finance PLC with effect from 27th March, the company in a CSE announcement said.
Hemas Power PLC
Chandana Lal De Silva has been appointed to the Directorate as an Independent Director with effect from 20th March 2014, Hemas Power PLC announced.
“The present Directorate of the Company comprises, Imtiaz A.H. Esufally (Chairman), G.A. Kishantha Nanayakkara (Managing Director), Husein N. Esufally, Sanjiva K.G. Senanayake, W. Malinga De F. Araskularatne, M. Riad Ameen and Chandana L. De Silva,” the CSE announcement said.
NTB
Nations Trust Bank (NTB) has announced that at the meeting of the Board of Director held on 31st March, 2014, Arjuna Gunaratne, its Chairman announced his resignation from the Board of Directors of the Bank with effect from 30th April 2014.
“Mr. Arjuna Gunaratne who served on the Board of the Bank from May, 2005 is stepping down in compliance with Direction No. 3(2)(ii) (A) of Rules of Corporate Governance for Licensed Commercial Banks issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka which provides that the period of service of a Director of a Commercial Bank shall not exceed nine (9) years. There is no other matter required to be brought to the attention of the shareholders in connection with his resignation.”
At the said meeting held on 31st March, 2014, the Board of Directors of the Bank also unanimously resolved that Krishan Balendra be appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank with effect from 1st May, 2014, the announcement added.

Lanka Hospitals PLC has said that Vishal Bali-Alternate Director to Malvinder Mohan Singh, has tendered his resignation from his alternate director position of The Lanka Hospital Corporation PLC with effect from 27th March 2014.
HDFC
Consequent to the transfer of G.L.S. Senadeera, (Director) of the HDFC Bank from Ministry of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities, he has resigned from the Director Board of HDFC Bank with effect from 14th March 2014, HDFC has announced to the CSE.
Hayleys
Mohamed Hisham Jamaldeen has been appointed as a non-executive director of Hayleys PLC, the company in a CSE announcement has said.
General announcements
C.W. Mackie PLC has said that on 31st March 2014 it purchased 30,351,222 ordinary shares representing 88.23 per cent of the issued shares of the company from the seller for a purchase consideration of Rs. 130 million.
Entrust Securities PLC has announced a change in address. “We wish to inform you that the Company has changed its Registered Office to Level 23, East Tower, World Trade Centre, Echelon Square, Colombo 01,” the CSE announcement said.
