Lankan investment promotion in Thailand
View(s):Board of Investment Sri Lanka (BOI) Chairman Lakshman Jayaweera recently briefed leading Thai businessmen of the Federation of Thai Industries at the Investment Promotion Seminar held at Sirikit Convention Hall in Bangkok, of the opportunities to invest in Sri Lanka.
He was assisted by Manoj Casseer, Assistant Director (Investment) of the BOI, according to BOI statement.
The Chairman of BOI addressed the Federation of Thai Industries making a presentation titled “Opportunities to Invest in Sri Lanka” to the assembled Thai businessmen and Investors.
Currently there are five Thai enterprises in Sri Lanka that operate under the BOI regime, representing a total investment of US$30 million and employing approximately 1000 Sri Lankan workers. “The enterprises are engaged in the manufacture of embroidery lace, of synthetic sapphires and will soon be joined by two 5-star hotels and an enterprise engaged in harvest management of rubber and other crops,” it said.
The Thai businessmen present were led by ArinJira, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries.
