This early-20th century work by the British composer John Maunder, recounts the events of the last few days of the earthly life of Jesus Christ as recorded in the Gospels. Maunder is renowned for his apparently inexhaustible flow of melodic ideas and the skilful weaving of his colourful harmonic fabric around them. “Olivet to Calvary” is one of his best-loved works.

Featured as the baritone soloist is Laknath Seneviratne. Laknath is well known to Colombo audiences, having appeared as soloist in several concert and theatrical performances in recent years. Denham Pereira, Organist and Director of Music at St. Andrew’s Scots Kirk will preside at the organ and the Colombo Philharmonic Choir will be under the direction of Manilal Weerakoon.
