Senura, Malinga shine as Nalanda dominate
The two Amarasinghe’s Senura and Malinga shone with half tons as Nalanda dominated the proceedings on day two against traditional rivals Ananda in the drawn 85th Battle of Maroons big match which ended at R. Premadasa Stadium yesterday.

Opener Senura Amarasinghe scored 62 for Nalanda
The match as in the opening day was called off with Nalanda resuming on their overnight score of one for no loss on 248 for 5 at tea break and no play being possible due to bad light.
Senura made a 62 with six boundaries while Malinga was unbeaten on 90 which included seven boundaries and a six as the pair put on a valuable 95 runs partnership for the third wicket.
Later Malinga put on another fine partnership of 74 runs for the fifth wicket with Pramud Hettiwatte who chipped in with a 45 in 42 balls that included three boundaries and two sixes enabling Nalanda resuming on their overnight score of one for loss to make a score of 248 for 5 when play stopped for tea on day two.
The opening day’s play too was hampered by rain with right arm pacie Anuththra Madawa with a four wicket haul along left arm spinners Kavindu Bandara and Pramud Hettiwatte who together shared four wickets combining to restrict Ananda batting first to a score of 170 after which the match was stopped due to bad light.
