Hemaka and nephew Amarasuriya win CIMA leadership awards
View(s):History was made at the CIMA President’s Dinner when both CIMA Leadership Awards – the CIMA Business Icon and the CIMA Star -were won by members of the Amarasuriya family.
Visiting CIMA President Malcolm Furber presented Singer Sri Lanka Group Chairman Hemaka Amarasuriya with the CIMA Business Icon Award whilst Panthera Leo Consulting Group Sri Lanka Managing Director and Senior Legal Consultant of Amarasuriya Associates Rajeev Amarasuriya was presented with the CIMA Star Award. These two presentations were made at the CIMA President’s Dinner held recently at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel in the presence of over 400 members. “We had two separate nomination processes for the CIMA Star and the CIMA Business Icon, and we were pleasantly surprised when uncle and nephew won both the Awards,” Chairman of the CIMA Sri Lanka Board Rajendra Theagarajah said.
The CIMA Business Icon was nominated to the panel of judges by the CIMA Leadership Team as there were no nominations for the Award whilst the CIMA Star Award which is to recognize achievements of members below 40 years of age received considerable enthusiasm from the membership. Rajeev Amarasuriya was selected as the CIMA Star for his outstanding academic achievements, personal achievements and career advancement and as a future leader of CIMA and CIMA Brand Ambassador.
The Panel of Judges comprised Daily Financial Times Editor Nisthar Cassim as the Chairman, Dr. Harsha Cabral, P.C; Dr. Ajantha Dharmasiri, Senior Faculty Member, Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayawardenapura and Ravi Peiris, Director General of the Employers Federation of Ceylon.
