Cuppa of all flavours under one roof
Known for producing the finest black tea in the world, Sri Lanka prides itself in producing according to uncompromising traditional methods and standards. Defining, protecting and promoting Ceylon tea is one of the Sri Lanka Tea Board’s aims and in line with this, they opened their first tea house ‘Ceylon Tea Moments’ on April 3 at the Grand Stand, Race Course complex.
First Lady Shiranthi Wickramasinghe Rajapaksa declared open the tea house which is a joint effort of several leading tea firms, under the ownership of the Sri Lanka Tea Board and managed by Sri Lanka Catering.
This tea house is dedicated to promoting all Ceylon tea varieties (Nuwara Eliya, Dimbula, Uva, Udapussellawa, Kandy, Ruhuna and Sabaragamuwa) for consumption and purchase at one place which differentiates this tea lounge from others. The seven agro-climate regions in Sri Lanka have the unique advantage of producing teas of different flavour, aroma, strength and
colour.
Developing an international chain of tea houses had been a part of SLTB’s three-year promotion and marketing plan. As an expansion of this project, branches of ‘Ceylon Tea Moments’ will be launched at other tourist locations such as Galle Fort and Nuwara Eliya and in the long term be initiated overseas.
This tea lounge is dedicated to promoting the generic brand, ‘Pure Ceylon Tea’ highlighting its unique properties and developing the tea culture in Sri Lanka.
