Sri Lankan leisure sector at Male trade fair
View(s):Food and Hospitality Asia – Maldives 2014 (FHAM) exhibition and the international culinary challenge organised by Dhivehi Expo of Maldives with the collaboration of CDC Events and Travels (Pvt.) Ltd. will be held in the Maldives on August 24-27, a media relese stated.
This 3-day event, which will be held at Dharubaaruge Exhibition Centre in Male will help exploit both Sri Lankan and Maldivian markets in all verticals by facilitating trade between the exhibitors taking part from all over the world offering products and services required by world class resort industry of the Maldives.
CDC Events and Travels (Pvt.) Ltd Director Imran Hassan elaborating on available opportunities said: “It is a fact that the hotel and leisure industry is thriving in the Maldives. There are over 100 world class resorts operating there. Sri Lankan service providers can make use of this opportunity to enter the Maldivian market and simply tapping on the vast potential. FHAM 2014 is a Maldivian Government endorsed expo.”
The International Culinary Challenge, which will be held concurrently with the collaboration of the Chefs Guild of Sri Lanka is expected to attract over 500 entries from Chefs from the resorts, hotels and restaurants from Maldives and other countries in the Asian region. The FHAM Culinary Challenge will act as the meeting ground and an ideal platform for all the local and international food and beverage executives to meet the Chefs and to discuss their requirements on a personalised note during the event, the release said.
The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies of the University of Maldives is also extending exclusive support to FHA Maldives 2014.
Exhibitors expected to take part in FHAM 2014 will represent the premises and facilities management sector, food and beverage, catering equipment and services sector, furniture and tableware, and housekeeping suppliers and services sector.
The event was successfully launched recently at the Traders Hotel in Male, Maldives for which the Chief Guest was Transport and Communication Minister Ameen Ibrahim. The Principal Sponsor of the event is Lily F and B Suppliers while Nestle is the Platinum Sponsor of the Culinary Challenge. Trans Maldivian Airways is the official airline while Durdans Hospitals is the Health Care Partner. While many resorts have already confirmed participation for the International Culinary Challenge over 60 per cent of the trade stalls have also been sold out.
