Intel announces APAC partners for Education 2-in-1 devices
View(s):Tablets, 2-in-1s, “re-imagined” desktops and servers, and the Internet of Things (IoT) are growth areas for Intel’s channel partners over the next 12 months, according to comments made at last week’s 2014 Intel Solutions Summit (ISS), the fourth in this year’s five leg ISS roadshow. Comprising about 500 Intel Technology Partners from Asia Pacific and Japan, the event also saw a company representative comment that the company was “taking Intel Architecture into new markets, like IoT, while the 2-in-1 form factor is expanding into new verticals like education”.
Intel also launched its Next Unit of Computing (NUC) line, which is the first to be powered by the Intel Atom E3815 processor, based on the company’s “Bay Trail” architecture. These products are fan-less, with on board eMMC memory, and a 4-inch by 4-inch ‘space-saving’-sized motherboard.
Additionally announced, the first Asia Pacific and Japan channel partners for Intel’s recent Education 2-in-1 device, which “features affordable tools such as a snap-on magnification lens and a temperature sensor, which work with the Intel Education Software suite to enable experiments that inspire student curiosity and promote inquiry”.
The announcement also noted that the “Intel Education 2-in-1 is powered by a quad-core Intel Atom processor Z3740D, runs Windows 8.1, and provides up to 7.8 hours of battery life as a tablet and an optional 3 plus hours of additional battery life when docked. With its ruggedised, durable design, the Intel Education 2-in-1 is designed to withstand drops of up to 70 cm and is water and dust resistant, which ensures the device can stand up to hands-on learning inside and outside the classroom”.
“Intel Technology Partners Leader (Australia), Viper (Pakistan), Connoisseur (India), Supreme (Thailand), publisher Felta (Philippines) and systems integrator EM Harrisma (Indonesia) will offer the Intel Education 2-in-1 to schools in their market”, added the announcement. (JH)
