Abercrombie and Kent travel with high end tourists to Sri Lanka
View(s):In a bid to bring down upmarket tourists to the country, United Holidays has signed up with Abercrombie and Kent, a leading global travel company, to generate increased arrivals to the country. Sri Lanka is positioned to also be the location for the company’s next set of luxury camping units as well in the country next year.
Abercrombie and Kent (A&K) Sri Lanka Chairman Afghar Mohideen said their aim was to try to attract the high end luxury market to the country and this could be achieved through this new venture. He noted that Sri Lanka Tourism was geared to handle a new segment of tourists and this would prove ideal for the destination. In this respect, the Abercrombie and Kent offices worldwide would generate travel and tour packages to Sri Lanka by marketing the destination to tourists that wish to travel with them.

The Kent formula of providing a “luxury cocoon” to explore the world has attracted prominent guests as diverse as James Brolin, Kristin Davis, Bill Gales, John Grisham, Tom Hanks, Dr. Henry Kisinger, Goldie Hawn, Lauren Hutton, Sharon Lawrence, Liam Neeson, Rachael Ray, Diane Sawyer, Jane Seymour, Barbara Walters, Denzel Washington and Oprah Winfrey, a media release issued by the company stated. The company owns many of the products it uses to create its unforgettable holidays and has introduced many experiences now considered the best in travel, it was stated. This luxury portfolio includes Sanctuary Lodges and Camps in Africa, four Sanctuary Sun Boats on the Nile, the Santuary MS ‘Yangzi -Explorer” five-star boutique cruise ship in China, the all-suite river cruiser “Sanctuary Anada’ in Myanmar, the world famous Royal Scotsman train, the Venice Simplon-Orient Express trains and river cruisers in Europe, Asia and the Amazon. They also offer services to both small group and independent programmes with privileged access, the company stated in the release.
An official at the Sri Lanka office noted that the company intends on establishing luxury camping facilities from next year as well. This would in effect cater to the upmarket traveller to Sri Lanka expecting the right kind of luxury camping sites offered in other locations around the world, it was noted.
A&K plans explorations to regions of the world like Africa, Antarctica, Australia and the South Pacific, China and the Orient, India, Europe, Egypt and the Middle East, South and Central American and the western United States and Canada, the release also stated.
