BoC brings Wesak to Seychelles
View(s):The Seychelles branch of state-owned Bank of Ceylon (BoC) has hosted a Wesak Festival on May 14 and 15 on request of the Buddhist community of this African island nation. This international branch, the bank’s fourth such branch, is situated in the country’s capital city of Victoria.
“For the first time in history four Buddhist Monks from Sri Lanka will visit Seychelles from 13th to 17th to conduct Buddhist Programmes in Majoie in Seychelles. A full day of observing ‘Sil’ followed by a ‘Dansela’ and a few other religious activities are scheduled for 14th May. Further, on 15th May a children’s religious programme and ‘Bakthi Gee’ performance will follow.
Throughout this period, from 14th May till 16th May, colourful Wesak Lanterns and other illuminations will add light and colour to this area in Majoie in Seychelles,” stated the bank.
The bank also added that this “special event was organised by the Bank of Ceylon Seychelles Country Head, Staff of BOC Seychelles branch and Seychelles Buddhist Association. Main sponsorship [was] provided by Bank of Ceylon, BOC Travels and Mr. Ahamed Didi in Seychelles”.
