Pathirage’s property on Horton Place up for sale
The premises housing a section of the army hospital located on Horton Place would be up for sale once it is cleared by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) that was currently shifting to its spanking, new hospital at Narahenpita.
Softlogic Holdings Chairman and owner of the property Ashok Pathirage said he would be considering disposing of the existing property at Horton Place. This would be carried out in a bid to ensure that they could use the money for their other projects lined up, it was noted.
Currently, the group is waiting for the Army Hospital to shift from its present location to their new premises. Once this is carried out the property would be up for sale as they had no plans to utilise it for any other purpose, Mr. Pathirage said.
The SLA established its military hospital at Horton Place as a makeshift move, some years back. The premises which formerly housed the Asha Central Hospitals was initially leased out to the SLA for a period of six months. Later they entered into an agreement for the Army to use the premises as a temporary measure since 2011 until the completion of the army hospital in Narahenpita.
SLA was compelled to move out of its own previous army hospital location as their own property was being sold to the Shangri-La hotels.
Mr. Pathirage explained that they were currently involved in a number of other projects in the country one of which is the Kandy Hospital, a part of the Asiri group of hospitals.
Having commenced restaurants and brought in more new brands to the country they were also owning at least 50 per cent of the property of the former Auditor General’s department and were also awaiting the opening of their first hotel Movenpick at Kollupitiya.
