Sri Lankan golfers of California victorious
The Sri Lankan Golfers of California beat the Mexican team 7.5 to 4.5, at the Annual Mexico vs Sri Lanka Golf Challenge
The tournament was held on Sunday, May 4, at the Porter Valley Country Club in Los Angeles. Twenty four golfers represented each team, playing in pairs, to match play and to partners best ball. The tournament was highlighted by a 4 under par round by young Kyle de Silva.
Kyle played a brilliant round which included a double eagle (Albatross) on hole # 10, a 504 yards par 5, sinking his second shot from 178 yards, to an elevated green.
Sugu Ariathurai, played a captain’s round, partnering with Maneth Jayasinghe, this pairing beat their opponents with ease, early in their round 6 up and 5 to play.
Sugu relinquishes his term as captain at the end of May.
The event concluded with an awards presentation and a biriyani dinner.
