Informatics to set up Avid training centre in SL
View(s):Audio Visual production technology developer Avid has plans to operate a training and certification centre in Sri Lanka. The centre will be set up in cooperation with Avid’s 20-year local partner Informatics, according to the latter’s Group Managing Diretor Hiran Wickramasinghe, quoted in a recent statement.
The same statement also highlighted the view of Varghese Devassy, Avid Solutions Specialist for SAARC and APAC Countries, who commented, “Sri Lanka has been close to my heart and it’s been double-fold during the joint roadshow along with Informatics. This I would attribute it to the successful show and the level of interest shown by Sri Lankans to learn Avid products and to get Avid Certification. This also has transpired into planning a certification course on Avid Media Composer in Sri Lanka which will be valid throughout the world. This programme is expected around the month of May-June 2014″.
At the same time, the statement also indicated that it was the goal of this Training Centre to “provide an opportunity for media, advertising, video and audio production professionals to be certified in the use of the prestigious and globally renowned Avid products. This training will help broaden the expertise and knowledge of media communications, video and audio production professionals in Sri Lanka and will further strengthen their opportunities in the global market”.
Further, it was revealed that “Avid media solutions are internationally recognised for being utilised in the creation of entertainment media including Hollywood blockbuster movies such as Avatar, Gravity and The Hunger Games. Its main focus lies in providing open and innovative technologies to create audio and video media that is recognised on a global scale. Avid, which is the world leader in mass media, video and audio production technology, has also won 14 Emmy Awards, a Grammy Award, two Oscar Awards and an A.C.E Eddie award”.
