HFC all set for purrfect evening with ‘You’ve got it Pussycat’
View(s):Who can resist a talking cat? Yes everyone knows the story of Puss in Boots. But this is no ordinary cat; this is a hat-wearing, handbag-toting sophisticated Single Lady cat!
If curiosity is getting the better of you, keep a date with the English Union of Holy Family Convent Bambalapitiya as they present “You’ve got it Pussycat’ a musical based on Judith Prior’s ‘What’s new Pussycat’ on June 13,14 and 15 at 7 p.m. at the school auditorium.
It promises to be a delightfully captivating show for the whole family. Expect some great music in the form of hits such as ‘Single ladies’ by Beyonce, ‘I wanna be a millionaire’ by Bruno Marrs and ‘ One way or another’ by One Direction as well as classics such as ‘These boots were made for walking’ by Nancy Sinatra, complemented by the dances which swing the entire gamut from ballet to hip-hop.
The storyline is modern and an entertaining and a wacky cast of characters will take on the roles of the king and queen, the bandit and showgirl, the princess and the witch and a host of others. The cast of 130 students, from 12 to 18-year-olds has been hard at practice these past few months with Principal Rev. Sr. Chandani Jayasuriya giving them her unstinted support.
Veteran director Jith Peiris is on board for this production, while Rapti Fernando directs the singing with support in the production of the music from Shobi Perera while Wendy Perera handles the choreography. The costumes have been designed by the girls themselves- the creative talents from the Design Club of HFC and are turned out by Mitabi Gunawardene and Maya Ratnayake.
