SSC tennis from June 6
View(s):The tennis courts at the SSC are once again being prepped and spruced for the club’s annual championships, which will attract all of the top talent on the Sri Lankan tennis circuit when the marquee event kicks off on June 6.
The competition, which is set to reach an exciting conclusion on June 22, will feature more than 600 participants spread across 22 events and multiple age groups. It will also see Thangarajah Dineshkanthan return to defend his men’s title, something Amritha Muttiah will also be doing in the women’s draw.
Running concurrently with the main tournament will be a separate tennis 10s event with Green Ball, Orange Ball and Red Ball action for girls and boys.
Tournament organizers said last year’s edition of the tournament was one of its most popular, with a record number of entries being received. They add that the 2014 SSC Open is set to match it both with its participation and prize money, which totals Rs. 1 million.
All match schedules, draws and results will be posted online at http://www.tournamentsoftware.com “The events and entries have constantly kept increasing and have always remained the highest in Sri Lanka. We maintain very high standards in player/spectator facilities, without exception,” one of the tournament organizers stated.
