Sri Lankan promotion at the IMEX MICE fair
View(s):Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) with SriLankan Airlines and the industry made full advantage of this year’s IMEX 2014, the largest travel fair in the world for MICE which was held in Frankfurt from 20- 22 May.

“The local industry was able to project the new properties and locations for MICE activities specially for Incentive Travel. There were nearly 4000 hosted buyers from 77 countries including the target markets for Sri Lanka. SLCB expects a sharp increase through this year’s participation with Sri Lanka becoming a popular MICE destination mainly due to massive infrastructure development in the country,” according to Vipula Wanigasekera, General Manager of the SLCB. Most of the buyers came from long haul markets viz , Russia, China, India and Middle East. Apart from the SLCB represented by Kumudu Hennedige and SriLankan Airlines lead by Regional Manager Europe, UK and North America – Kaushal Seneviratne, nine MICE experts joined the team from Connaissance de Ceylan, NKAR Travels & Tours Pvt Ltd, JourneyScapes Travel, Walkers Tours, Sunway Holidays, Golden Isle Travels, Asian Adventures and Aitken Spence Travels Lanka Exhibition & Conference Services (Pvt) Ltd,
The objectives of this promotion are establishing contacts with new buyers, undertake newbusiness from existing buyers, promote new MICE products and locations in the country and specially tap the incentive market mainly from Europe to Sri Lanka, the SLCB said in a media release
