Chundikuli Girls’ College PPA Colombo branch marks 75 years with a concert
View(s):Chundikuli Girls’ College will celebrate the 75th anniversary of its Past Pupils’ Association, Colombo branch in August this year. A fundraising concert, ‘Vaudeville,’ will be held at the Bishop’s College Auditorium on Sunday, June 15 at 5.30 p.m. to mark the occasion.
‘The Revelations’, Sachi and King and other popular artistes will perform at this musical variety entertainment, along with Ladies’ College, S. Thomas College, Hillwood College, Methodist College who will present items of music, dance and singing to support their sister school. The welcome dance will be by the girls of Chundikuli.
Chundikuli Girls’ College is a leading school in Jaffna and was founded by the Church Missionary Society (CMS) in 1896. The school maintained high standards of education and flourished until the onset of the civil war, which took a heavy toll. But Chundikuli Girls’ College stood strong in the face of adversity, and with the cessation of hostilities is thriving again, thanks also to the support of past pupils from around the world.
This fund raiser is to provide bursaries to children in need who want to study at Chundikuli.
