A love that began at a desperate point
View(s):Nihal Bandara’s film ‘Seema Nehe Akase’ which has completed its production and is ready for release is a story about two lovers who met at a most unexpected point of their lives; when they decided to take their own lives. It revolves around two young people, a salesman who leads a playboy life and a girl who had been disappointed by her previous love. Working as a salesman, the young man played by Pubudu Chathuranga wastes all his money at night clubs. Losing his job at last, he ends up a debtor and decides to take his own life. Meanwhile a young girl who had been brought up in a strict family background is cheated by several lovers.
Running away from home she decided to end her life. Strangely the young couple meets at the very place they arranged to take their lives and there they begin a new life. ‘This film was an outcome of our effort to do a cinematic production on youth and their problems. Like what Dr. Dharmasena Pathiraja has done we wanted to do an arty film on the issues relating to youth’ the director Nihal Bandara told TV Times.
‘However at the end the film took a more of a commercial format’ Nihal who had earlier assisted film ‘Dakina Dakina Mal’ and played a dual role as a script writer and an actor in the film ‘Hope’ which is yet to be released said. Produced by Tissa Kalasuriya for Active Motion Pictures, the film stars Pubudu Chathuranga, and debutant Aruni Mallawarachchi in the lead roles. Aruni is a journalist working for ‘Lakbima’ newspaper. Sriyani Amerasena, Buddadasa Vithanachchi, Dhananji Tharaka and Rujula Divaratne are featured in the cast of the film.
Make up is by Nalin Prematilake, art director-Deepthi Mangala Somage, Ayeshman Hettiarachhi cinematography and editing of ‘Seema Nehe Akase’ is by Praveen Jayaratne. Sanka Ruwanditha handled the musical score while Kaushik Olindha, Ibasha Muthukumari, Dilshan Samarasinghe and Chamari Perera contributed to the playback singing.
