De Lanerolles strike a classical note with world-renowned artistes
View(s):Just back from Toronto Canada after two successful concerts, the De Lanerolle Brothers, Rohan and Ishan are now preparing to welcome the Slovenian born opera singer Sabina Cvilak and renowned pianist Rohan De Silva. This concert will be on July 1 at the Kingsbury Hotel Main Ballroom.
Preparations are underway for a slightly different show, says Ishan de Lanerolle. The first half will see the most internationally acclaimed Sri Lankan born pianist Rohan De Silva collaborating with the Brothers and Ms Cvilak while the second half will take a lighter approach without piano.
Sabina Cvilak is on her way to becoming one of the world’s leading lyric sopranos, enjoying an international career in opera and concert. In her US debut as Mimi in La Boheme with the Washington National Opera on the invitation of the legendary tenor Placido Domingo, the Met weekly raved, ”Soprano Sabina Cvilak brings real pathos and presence to her Mimi and she is one of the best sopranos who graced the WNO in seasons.” Her debut was such a triumph that she returned to Washington in later seasons to play Micheala in a new production of Bizet’s Carmen and Liu in a new production of Puccini’s Turandot.
Her busy 2013/2014 season includes concert appearances in Britten’s War Requiem with the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, the Spanish National Orchestra, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra; and in Strauss’ Vier letzte Lieder with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. Operatic engagements for the season included portrayals as Tatyana in Euguene Onegin with the Slovene National Theatre Maribor in February and as Vitellia in Mozart’s La clememza di Tito with Opéra national de Lorraine in May.
Sabina Cvilak has also accompanied Tenor Andrea Bocelli on tours in Asia and the United Kingdom and Europe and has recently performed Strauss’ Vier letzte Lieder with the Slovene Philharmonic Orchestra.
Her future engagements include Nedda in I Pagliacci , Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Tatjana in Evgenij Onegin, Suor Angelica, Desdemona in Otello, Elsa in Lohengrin and Cio-Cio San in Madame Butterfly.
