Forty seven teams qualify from Kurunegala, Jaffna, Colombo
The qualifying tournament of the 23rd All-Island Schools Netball Championship saw three more centers Kurunegala, Jaffna and
Colombo completing their tournament.
In the Kurunegala district tournament which was played at the Maliyadeva College grounds 18 teams qualified to the finals which comprised four teams each in the Division ‘A’ — Under-14, 16 and 18 age groups and two each in the Division ‘B’ of the three categories.
Defending champions and six-time winners, Holy Family Convent Kurunegala came out on top in all the three age groups with two of their teams securing slots in the under 16 category.
Ten teams qualified in the tournament conducted in Jaffna with four teams in each of the three age groups. J/Araly Saraswathie MV came out on top in the U-14 and U-18 category while J/Victoria College took the first spot in the U-16 in the qualifying tournament which was played at the Canagaratne MMV ground. In the qualifying tournament held at the Sirimavo Bandaranayke BV grounds in Colombo saw 17 teams booking a berth to the final tournament which consisted of four teams each in the Division ‘A’ U-14, 16 and 18, two each in the U-14 and 16 and one in the U-18 Division ‘B’.
Visakha Vidyalaya took the major honours when they secured two first places in the U-14 and U-18 categories with Musaeus College coming out on top in the U-16 age group.
The All-Island Milo Schools Netball Championship is conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Netball Association and sponsored by Nestle PLC for the 23rd successive year, will see over 400 teams being selected for the finals in the four age groups after the completion of the district tournament which is due to end on June 30.

- Under-14 Division ‘A’: Holy Family Convent, Pannala National School, Maliyadeva Balika MV and Wayamba Royal MV. Jaffna District Qualifiers: - Under-14 Division ‘A’: J/Araly Saraswathie MV, J/Sandilipay Hindu College, J/Union College and J/Victoria College.
