Honorary Tea Ambassador for Ceylon Tea appointed in the UK
View(s):The Sri Lanka Tea Board has appointed Mike Bunston OBE, an eminent personality in the international tea trade with over 56 years of experience as the Honorary Tea Ambassador for Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Bunston is a goodwill ambassador of tea. He has served as Honorary Chairman of the International Tea Committee (ITC) for 19 years, a task he first undertook in the later years of a career as a tea broker that began in 1959. Bunston retired in 2002 but has never been busier. During his tenure, he tirelessly added to the list of countries that belong to the non-profit ITC, according to a Sri Lanka Tea Board media release.
In recent years, Mr. Bunston has chaired numerous discussions between producer and consumer countries on the challenges facing the global tea industry. He organised the Producer-Consumer Forum in 2005 which has considered topics such as fair trade, sustainable production, organic growing, climate change, PGI teas and many other complex economic realities.
He has also been honoured with an OBE (Order of the British Empire) by the Queen for ‘services to the International Tea Industry’.
