Carlton Super Sevens kicks off next week
View(s):The 2014 edition of Carlton Super Sevens will kick off next weekend in Kurunegala with the local tournament which will be followed up by its second leg the following weekend in Beliatta.
These two legs will lead to the main event of the Carlton Super Sevens featuring a host of international rugby stars in two different legs to be hosted in Koggala and the Racecourse grounds in Colombo. The entire event is sponsored by Dialog eZ Cash. The Kurunegala leg, which will be held on June 28 and 29 at the Maligapitiya ground and the second leg to be held at the Beliatta National ground on July 5 and 6, will witness local rugby stars compete under ten franchises. The teams in contention are Central Kings, Eastern Eagles, Jaffna Challengers, North Western Blacks, Northern Gladiators, North Central Typhoons, Southern Sharks, Sabaragamuwa Stallions, Western Warriors and Uva Vipers.After both local legs the squads will be pruned down and will be bolstered by the inclusion of international players for the remaining two legs.
The competition will reach a new level when the first leg including the international stars is played in Kosgoda on August 9 and 10. The deciding fourth and final leg will follow in Colombo on August 15 and 16.
