Bridgestone’s RFT enables Sri Lankan motorists to run even after a tyre puncture
View(s):Sri Lankan motorists have now been able proceed along a busy highway after a tyre puncture with the introduction of Bridgestone’s Run-flat Tyres (RFT) by the Autodrome PLC, a media release issued by the company revealed.
Run Flat tyres are designed specifically for the purpose of remaining functional, for a limited amount of time, with no air pressure in the tyre. If a motorist experiences a puncture whilst driving, the Run Flat tyre will still be usable for around 50 miles giving time to drive the car home, or to a nearby garage.
The reinforced sidewall of the tyre is strong enough to keep the shape and support of the car without the air pressure, on a temporary basis, the media release said.
The Autodrome PLC, the sole distributor of Bridgestone tyres in Sri Lanka, has made arrangements to make available the full range of Run-flat Tyres through its island-wide dealer network
As a “big three” global tyre manufacturer, Bridgestone also provides RFT to the replacement market, all over the world.
The main tyre plant used for these tyres is in Poznan, Poland with sophisticated research and development facilities and an efficient supply channel to major German car manufacturers in Stuttgart, Munich and Ingolstadt.
