Old Thomians too hot for RCUAC
Old Thomians gained an easy 8-3 win over Royal College Union Aquatic Club on the opening day of the Ellawala League water polo tournament at the Royal College pool yesterday. At half time OTSC led 4 goals to 1.
In the fifth minute the Thomian cap No 6 Sachitha Jayatilleke drew first blood for the OTSC. In the sixth minute No 10 Ashen Francis threw the ball into the RCUAC net to make it 2-0.
Royal’s No 8 A. Weerasinghe pulled the lead back to make it 2-1 in favour of OTSC. At the first quarter the Thomians led 2-1.
In the first minute of the second quarter the Thomian cap No 9 Deshan De Mel extended the lead and made it 3-1. In the fourth minute of the same half OTSC No 8 BACA Perera extended the lead further and OTSC led 4-1 at half time.
On the first minute on resumption No 4 Akil Sourjah made it 5-1.
In the fourth minute Cap No 2 K. Munasinghe made it 6-1. In the sixth minute white cap RCUA Y Wasalage added their second goal to make it 6-2.
One minute later he repeated the performance in favour of OTSC 6-3 at the end of the third quarter.
In the first minute of the fourth quarter BACA Perera made it 7-3 for OTSC and four seconds before full time D. Weeraratne detonated his shot into the RCUAC net to make the final score 8-3 for OTSC.

In the matches played at the Navy Pool in Welisara Old Anandians beat SSC 8-6 and Navy massacred Old Nalandians 25-2.
