Korean drama to entertain Lankan viewers
View(s):Following the immense success of Korean serialized dramas dubbed in Sinhala, Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) has introduced yet another multi-awarded drama set around 18th century Korea. “Yahapath Maha Raja” (Lee San, Wind of the Palace) a Korean television drama of Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation in Korea is now being aired from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm on Rupavahini from every Monday to Friday.
A production by the SLRC, well known dubbing director Athula Ransirilal handled the dubbing, editing and writing the theme songs of ‘Yahapath Maharaja’. In the late 18th century, Lee San became the 22nd kind of the Joseon Dynasty. It was the most tumultuous time ever seen in the 500 year old Joseon monarchy.He was an open-minded, wise king who championed democratic values.
The stories of his glorious triumphs, ordeal, regrets, and historical achievements are shown in this TV drama. This biopic drama covers his dramatic life and shows the achievements of the Silhak scholars and outstanding officials who rebuilt the kingdom’s power. The King Jeonjo was a wise king who created a new age of rising prosperity and power in the Joseon Dynasty. When he was at the tender age of 11, he witnessed the slow execution of his father, Prince Sado. But he grew up as a gentle boy with a strong will.
He is smart like his grandfather, King Young-jo but has a benevolent personality that makes him different. Throughout, Jeongjo’s position as Crown Prince is threatened by palace intrigues.The Crown Prince, Jeongjo, begins to fall in love with one of his childhood friends,Seong Song Yeon, whose father, a palace artist, passed away when she was very young.
