The finale was a follow up to a two month process of selection and grooming that consisted of five mini pageants before the grand finale, and another three at the event. Of the contestants, Hansi Ekanayake was named Miss Photogenic, Piumi Hansamali Miss Glowing Face and Face of the Year, Piumi Sirinayake Miss Fitness and Social Media Queen and Natasha Fernando as Miss Catwalk. The second runner up, Shalika Erangani and first runner up Stella Roche were joined by the winner, Ishanka De Alwis who was awarded Miss Triumph Body Beautiful along with the Best National Costume designed by Dlishani Satharasinghe. The Best National Costume pageant saw 13 designers tasked with dreaming up fantastically colourful costumes that reflected Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage, and several innovative designs drawing influence from the Kandy perehera, ves muhunu (traditional masks) and dance were presented at the event.
The event was organised by the Imagine Works Model Agency in partnership with The Hub Advertising. Project Chairman Bhagya Egodage (Director, Imagine Works) and National Director Jayantha Wedasinghe were ably assisted by a team of professionals and sponsors, including official photographer Madhuka Gunasekara. The Biona Runway Supermodel 2014, Iresha De Alwis, will represent the Biona brand as Ambassador for 2014/2015 and represent Sri Lanka at the 2014 Asian Supermodel contest to be held from August 17 to September 1 in Nanning Guangxin, China.
