Kandy Secretariat toilets’ stink has authorities thumbing their noses
View(s):Stinking toilets, harmful to the health of public servants working on the ground floor of the Kandy Secretariat is a health hazard. The nauseating smell has made some of the lady public officers sick, of whom one had to be warded at Kandy General Hospital.
The worst affected area is the office of Births and Deaths where members of the public converge in large numbers for certificates.
When the Sunday Times contacted the public servants, especially women, who use these toilets, they said this situation had been brought to the notice of the authorities over six months ago to no avail.
The public too has complained to the authorities, but without any success.
