Four blistering centuries
Opening batsmen, Tharanga Indika of Lankem Ceylon, Ruwan Sanjeewa from Toll Lanka, F. Ahamed from E.B. Creasey and Delshan Wijetunga from MAC Holdings cracked centuries in the ongoing fourth Stafford Motor Co., ‘Honda’ trophy, MCA Division ‘G’ 25-Over League Tournament, continued last weekend.
Tharanga Indika carried his bat out with a whirlwind 150 not out in 69 balls, inclusive of nine sixes and fourteen fours, as Lankem Ceylon annihilated Total Amber by 227 runs; Total Amber shot out for a mere 42 runs in 17.5 overs.
An aggressive 121 runs in 52 balls, inclusive of twelve sixes and eight fours by Ruwan Sanjeewa saw Toll Lanka cruising to a 137 runs win over MBSL Insurance ‘B’.
F. Ahamed, too carried his bat out with a blistering 115 not out in 53 balls inclusive of eight sixes and 11 fours, enabling E.B. Creasey to a cake-walk 9-wickets win over Courtaulds Clothing.
The fourth centurion, Delshan Wijetunga was the next to carry his bat out scoring 111 not out in 66 balls, inclusive of four sixes and fourteen fours, as MAC Holdings thrashed SL Telecom Services by 185 runs.
MI Synergy was sent on leather hunt by Heshan Flex Packaging, scoring a massive 284 for 6 in 25 overs, the highest team total for the weekend, riding on a 170 runs, 4th wicket partnership between S. L. Priyadewa (87) and Gayan Prasanga (91), thus walking through to a 184 runs win.
Weekend’s best bowling came from opening bowler Adeesha Nanayakkara (5/25), which spear-headed Vallible Finance to a five wickets win over HNB ‘C’ and Harshana Aponsu’s (5/29), whose effort did not bear fruit for HNB Assurance, as Star Lanka Shipping sailed home to a 52-run win.
