Ramada closed for renovations
View(s):The Ramada Hotel in Colombo has been closed for the past one month due to renovations underway for its new-look lobby costing Rs.250 million.
Due to modernisation plans for the lobby currently underway accessibility to the guest rooms was not possible as a result the hotel was shut down for renovations for about a month, Ramada Colombo Director Operations M. Shanthikumar said in an interview with the Business Times.
He noted that they have now created a new entrance through the pool side for guests arriving in Colombo and in this respect they were accepting bookings from August.
The guest rooms, restaurant and bar would be opened in August after undergoing renovations costing Rs. 590 million.
The lobby is scheduled to open by end September with double height added to create an improved look and feel, Mr. Shanthikumar explained.
He added that in order to add the double height to the lobby space they had to sacrifice part of the first floor where two meeting rooms are located.
In this respect, they would set up small meeting rooms on the second floor alongside the banquet and conference halls.
The hotel’s 94 rooms were renovated to offer smart luxury that caters to the new age global traveller for whom business and leisure converge. Rooms are equipped with cutting edge IPTV facilities with Video on Demand and ordering of services online, together with integration to multiple devices.
