Be a part of the Jujubee magic
View(s):The Neelan Tiruchelvam Trust (NTT) presents a fantastical tale of a kingdom of make believe with larger-than-life puppets, nail-biting suspense, a musical narrative and cast from across the seas! Performed by the Chennai-based Perch theatre group, this production promises to be a rare treat. It is an interactive theatre experience for the young from 5 years and up but so evocative it will keep adults entrapped in this magical drama. Jujubee transports you from being just an audience member and makes you a part of the play!
Perch, the group behind the performance, is a collective based in Chennai, formed in 2006 to push the creative envelope using theatre, film, music, art and other forms of expression. The members of Perch are from diverse backgrounds and include architects, designers, filmmakers, journalists, entrepreneurs, actors and musicians, among others.
Jujubee is Perch’s first production created with children in mind. The play uses the form of experimental theatre, where the cast interacts directly with the audience and actively engages them in the dialogue. Jujubee transcends language barriers as the play consists of minimal dialogue and capitalizes on colourful puppets and props, and vibrant movement.
Jujubee will be staged on August 2 at the Nuga Sevana Amphitheatre in the grounds of the Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour on Bauddhaloka Mawatha at 10.30 a.m. and 5 p.m. respectively. Each show will run for 75 minutes. Tickets are Rs 500. For tickets contact Sam on 0721601091. |
