Richard Peiris launches stronger, firmer water tank
View(s):Richard Pieris and Co PLC (RPC), operating in Sri Lanka for the past 82 years and now a conglomerate with an asset base of Rs. 32 billion in addition to being the pioneer to introduce plastic water tanks, last week introduced a new version of a water tan ‘Arpico Hybrid’ water tank to the Sri Lankan market.
It is stronger than the earlier version, ensures the purity of the water with screw lid that prevents insects and dust entering the tank and its ribs like outer formation ensures coolness of the water inside the tank.
The Arpico’s Hybrid ripple Layer Tank was launched in Colombo and at that occasion addressing journalists, Sunil Liyanage, Director, RPC and MD, Local Manufacturing and Distribution Sector, said that the Arpico Hybrid tank is designed to have more strength and its wide opening and strong base eases the cleaning of the tank. It also could withstand strong winds, he said.
The tank is manufactured with three layers to offer quality, freshness and purity of water storage and also provides a clear visual backdrop. The insulating properties, he said of the middle layer keeps the water cool by minimising the absorption of heat, and plays the key role of preventing algae formation. The outer layer protests the water from harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun, Mr. Liyanage said.
When the Business Times on the sidelines of the launch asked Mr. Liyanage whether by any means their new product undermines other similar products available in the market as the technologies used can be accessed by any manufacturer, he said they maintain that their product is of high quality but they never undermine other similar products available in the market.
In the new era of industrial and technological world, electronic items like computers and televisions become outdated or obsolete as they are constantly updated with new versions.
Therefore if the present version of the Arpico water tanks is superior to their old ones currently being used, the Business Times asked whether a buy back policy to replace the old one with a new one would be offered. In response, Mr. Liyanage assured that they have sold more than one million water tanks already and that quality is unmatched and therefore the question of buy-backs would not arise. The same basic qualitative properties are also in the old tanks which are already used by the households and the industry. However if there is a demand in the future for a replacement process, then at that point of time, they would consider a buy-back option. (QP)
