‘Send a gift’ online marketing unit aims at global recognition
View(s):In a fast-moving business environment, online purchase of goods and services is becoming a common occurrence.
Send a gift, a local online shopping mall with an investment of more than US$ 10 million, recently launched its business.
“More than US$ 10 million has been invested on send a gift online mall out of which only $500,000 has been invested initially. We are hoping to take the business of sending gifts from Sri Lanka to any country in the world within another three to four months,” said Senaka De Silva, Chairman of send a gift, a subsidiary of Ryder Holdings (Pvt) Ltd at the launch in Colombo last Thursday.
All kinds of food products available at the online mall are 100 per cent organic and chemical free which will be delivered from their own farm. The company’s aim is to reach one million items of categories in their product list by the end of next year, stressed Dr. De Silva.
He also noted that the credit card numbers which a client enters online to purchase a good or service will be fully secured with the latest security system (SSC – Secure Socket Layer).
The country will obtain great benefits from this initiative of an international online mall, since products from Sri Lanka will be promoted via online. The online mall has around 3,000 items available at the moment, Neomal Suriyaraachchi, company CEO told the Business Times on the sidelines of the launch.
“The uniqueness of ‘send a gift’ is that we are not just a product distributor but offer certain services. Right now no other online mall offers services such as cleaning the house and so on. We deliver a variety of products and are hoping to add healthcare which is something we are really looking forward to,” he said.
