CAA imposes maximum retail price on rice

The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has imposed a maximum retail price on several varieties of rice with immediate effect.
Accordingly, the price of a kilo of de-stoned and cleaned samba, excluding keeri samba and suduru samba, has been fixed at Rs 77.
For other varieties of rice, the fixed prices per kilo are white nadu Rs 68, and Rs 66, for red nadu, white raw and red raw.
The CAA said that no producer, trader or distributor should offer or display for retail sale in bags, packs or in any other form, these varieties of rice, in excess of the aforementioned maximum, fixed retail prices.
