Health services, health tips: Call 1959
View(s):The National Hospital will launch a new service tomorrow where the public could call 1959 and ask for assistance from a centralised information hub for patient-care services, Hospital Director Anil Jasinghe said. Information pertaining to clinics, special patient care units, investigations and preparation for procedures, health education, health tips, and first aid tips for poisoning etc can be obtained by calling the number.
The service will be in operation from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturdays. If the caller wants to connect directly with a ward or get any other department, they have the option of connecting with the hospital telephone operator, a service available 24 hours a day.
