Former MP Samson Silva’s property to be auctioned
View(s):Former UNP MP and millionaire businessman M. Samson Silva’s company property mortgaged to Hatton National Bank (HNB) is to be sold in a public auction in a bid to recover loans taken by the company between December 1992 and February 2007 period. The HNB has decided to recover a sum of over US$ 4.54 million (Rs.590.3 million) given to the company as loans by auctioning several properties, Juki machines and other accessories belongs to M. Samson & Silva Company as the company has defaulted the loans, HNB announced in a newspaper advertisement.
The notice said that it would auction properties at Cambridge Place, Colombo in the extent of 28 perches and around 15 acres of land including paddy fields in Borallegamuwa which were mortgaged to the bank in three bonds.
Movable property including Juki machines and other accessories at apparel factories located in Kurunegala and Piliyandala will also be auctioned for violating the condition of repayment in the mortgaged bond, the HNB said.
Mr. Silva was not available for comments on the sale of his company properties.
