Sportsman Shivantha Vivekanandan re-elected President DSPPA
View(s):Well known former sports star Shivantha Vivekanandan was re-elected uncontested as the President, Deaf School Past Pupils’ Association, The School for the Deaf, Ratmalana for the 12th successive year at the 65th Annual General Meeting, held at the Stanley Hall, The School for the Deaf, Ratmalana recently.
He was the past pupil from the school for the Deaf Ratmalana and Maryline High School Kollupitiya where he won a number of awards, trophies, medals and certificates (too many to mention) in studies, art and sports. He was able to move with normal students. He was under 16 cricket captain in 1961 and was a senior athlete champion for the three successive years from 1960 to 1962.
He was an active member of the Deaf Recreation Club, Rajagiriya where he took part in cricket, athletics and table tennis.
He broke many records for the Deaf Recreation Club, Rajagiriya and he had already won 123 awards in sports before he retired in 1980.
