Ceylon Theatres offers its cinemas for IFFC
View(s):Ceylon Theatres pioneers in film exhibition in Sri Lanka will join country’s first ever international film festival, the ‘International Film Festival of Colombo’ (IFFC) offering its main theatres for the weeklong festival from September 2 to 7. The Regal cinema, the Majestic Cineplex, Empire Cineplex at Arcade Independence square, prominent film theatres in Colombo which are owned and run by Ceylon Theatres Ltd will be the main theatres for the festival which will be open free to the public during the festival.
The Regal cinema, Majestic cinema and the latest cinema Empire will carry the screening of this film festival. “We are proud to offer our theatres for the festival which would bring the best movies from around the world to Sri Lanka and would be an unforgettable experience to the movie lovers in the country,” Joseph Page Managing Director CTPL speaking about its role in IFFC. Designed to create memories to all movie lovers, Ceylon Theatres have taken another milestone to spread the ultimate cinema experience to its fans through this historical event, he added.
Organised by the Film Directors Guild of Sri Lanka in association with the ‘Okinawa International Movie Festival’ in Japan, more than 70 films selected from 40 countries like France, India, UK, US, China, Spain and Germany, Nepal, Israel and Switzerland are to be screened in Colombo during the festival. The list of films also includes African, Caribbean and Latin American films to offer a worldwide cultural experience to the Sri Lankan audience. The films that will be screened are also divided into nine categories including the Juliette Binoche retrospective, Michelangelo Antonioni retrospective, Spanish female directors, Sri Lankan new currents, Sri Lankan diaspora films and children’s movies.
