A Bollywood treat
The lively beats of the Dhol and tunes from the Bollywood silver screen took the audience on an emotional journey last Sunday when
the acclaimed Indian singer, Shaan, who is the voice behind many memorable moments in films performed for eager Bollywood buffs gathered at Stein Studios.
Put together by the Indian CEO Forum in collaboration with the High Commission of India, the event began with the budding new singer- June Banerjee. In celebration of India’s 68th Independence Day the evening of soothing tunes started out with ripples of applause as the young songstress took the stage. Starting out with a few romantic numbers the curtain raiser ended with a crowd favourite, her upbeat dance number- Laila O Laila.
Having won several awards, including at the IFA ceremony held in Sri Lanka back in 2011, Shaan wowed the crowd with his emotional renditions of popular tunes in both Hindi and Tamil. Trying his best to sing some Baila for his fans the star had the crowd in stitches with his charm and bubbly personality. Rendering numbers from movies like ‘The Bodyguard’ and the 2006 hit ‘Saawariya,’ he shared that a concert in Sri Lanka has been in the pipeline for the past fifteen years at least for himself and the crew.
The Bollywood sensation happily obliged as the excited audience shouted requests off his wide repertoire.
