auction where a three foot submarine was auctioned for a staggering Rs. 55,000 to raise funds for the Room to Read foundation.

The event was graced by well known faces in the business world and towards the beginning of the event itself the fund-raising passed the Rs. 100,000 benchmark.

Subway is the largest restaurant chain in the world with over 42, 000 outlets spread globally in every continent. It was founded by Fred DeLuca in 1965, who addressed the gathering through video conferencing to express his enthusiasm about opening his restaurant in Sri Lanka.

Room to Read is a foundation in operation in Sri Lanka since 2005 with the aim of providing education to children. The event also marked the announcing of Subway’s beverage partners- Coca Cola Beverages Sri Lanka Ltd.
