Hemantha records 2nd best ever Grand Prix Score
The beautiful and the only International standard Golf course in Sri Lanka, Victoria Golf and Country Resort course in Rajawella hosted the August Pin Fernando Grand Prix event conducted by the Sri Lanka Golf Union. The tournament was held from August 12 to 15.

National squad member Priya Hemantha, who shot a brilliant final round 6 under par 67, won his 3rd monthly Pin Fernando Grand Prix title by 7 shots from second place B.A. Rohana. Hemantha had 8 Birdies and 2 Bogies in his 67. He birdied the 1st, 5th, 9th, 11th, 14th, 15th, 17thand 18th holes.
Following closely in the footsteps of former National and International title holders in amateur golf, Hemantha showed the National Selectors that there is great talent outside the traditional home of Sri Lanka Golf at the Royal Colombo Golf Club which is currently undergoing refurbishment and upgrading of their course and facilities.
His 7 under total of 285 is the 2nd best 4 Round total in a Grand Prix at Rajawella. Former champion N. Thangarajah had a 11 under par in the Pin Fernando Grand Prix 2 years ago, when he was an Amateur.
Division B was won by 17-year-old Lamindu Rainika. – SJ
