American Center highlights democracy
View(s):Featuring the importance concepts in good governance lick liberty, sovereignty and freedom, American Center will screen a series of films on the theme ‘democracy’ at its weekly film screening at 6 pm on every Tuesday.
‘Lincoln’ Steven Spielberg’s film featuring two-time Academy Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis — with an all-star ensemble cast including Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones and Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be screened on September 2.
This inspiring and revealing drama focuses on the 16th President’s tumultuous final four months in office as this visionary leader pursues a course of action to end the Civil War, unite the country and abolish slavery. A profile of Haitian radio journalist and human rights activist, Jean Dominique ‘The Agronomist’ will be screened on September 9. It includes: historical footage of Haiti’s vivid and tumultuous past; interviews with Dominique, himself and with Michele Montas–his heroic wife, life-long love, and extraordinary partner; and incorporates footage shot before Dominique’s assassination on April 3, 2000.
