RCCU inducts new president
View(s):The Rotaract Club of Centennial United (RCCU), a community based youth drive, celebrated their 6th Installation Ceremony and inducted new president, Rtr. Darini Sahadevan and her Board for the year 2014/15 on Sunday, August 24 at Waters Edge, Battaramulla.
The Installation Ceremony began was graced by President’s Counsel and the Charter President of the Rotary Club of Colombo Centennial, the parent club of RCCU, Rtn. Prashantha Lal de Alwis, current president of Rotary Club of Colombo Centennial, Rtn. Vishwa Edirisooriya, Youth Services Committee Chairman of Rotary District 3220, Rtn. PHF Kumudu Warnakulasuriya, Co – District Rotaract Committee Chairman, Rtn. Hussain Khaleel, District Rotaract Representative elect, Rtr. Sathiyendra Tharmakulerajasingham, Assistant District Rotaract Representative, Rtr. Malik Ishan Hannan along with fellow Rotarians and Rotaractors.
Rtr. Isuru Samarawickrama, project chairperson of the Installation Ceremony welcomed the gathering and recognised the success of the club throughout the last five years.
Rtr. Chamal Weerakkody, immediate Past President of RCCU shared his experiences on service and the skills he gained after his tenure as the president of RCCU last year. He introduced and inducted Rtr. Darini Sahadevan as the new president of RCCU. The incoming president pledged to continue to promote peace and harmony, co-existence and tolerance through community service and professional development projects.
The theme of the year being “Virtue.Truth.Union”, the RCCU will concentrate more on peace building through diversity and to speak out for racial harmony thus aiming to create a better world for the generations to come. Certificates and awards were distributed to the members in recognition of their contribution and services to the club during last year
