Ayomali and Eshan crowned as single champs
Neranji Ayomali and Lahiru Eshan were crowned Women’s and Men’s single champions respectively at the Lanka Plate Carrom Championship 2014 concluded at the Carrom Federation Headquarters yesterday,
Ayomali met Pavani Yasoda in the Women’s final in which the champ gave a tough fight to win 25/15 and 25/12. In the Men’s final Eshan scored a cake-walk victory over Joseph Dilan by 25/8 and 25/4.

Suchini Sashikala partnered by Malshani Maneesha emerged Women’s Doubles champions while Ishara Kannangara and Pamod Ashendra won the Men’s Doubles event earlier.
On their way to the finals Suchini Sashikala/Malshanee Maneesha and Neranji Ayomali/T. Sammani had to work hard for their victories as Upeksha Sewwandi/Bhagya Madushani and Roshani Peiris/Arosha Udayangani gave them stiff opposition as both semi-final matches were evenly balanced with the scores reading 25/24, 25/22 and 7/25, 25/16 and 25/8 respectively.
In the final Suchini Sashikala and Malshani Maneesha beat Neranji Ayomali and T. Sammani 25/5. 25/11.
In the Men’s Singles event Joseph Dilan and Lahiru Eshan beat Dineth Dulakshana 8/25, 25/23 and 25/01 and Ajith Chandrasoma 25/10, 24/25 in the semis.
In the quarter-finals of men’s Joseph Dilan beat Vibhavi Charithma 25/3. 25/6, Dineth Dulakshana beat Eshan Randula 25/3, 23/25. 25/13, Ajith Chandrasoma beat. Kaviranga Perera 25/12, 25/00 and Lahiru Eshan beat Ishan Kannangara 18/25, 25/6 and 25/13.
Neranji Ayomali scored a 25/4. 24/25, 25/8 win over T. Sammani while in the second semi-final Pavani Yasoda beat Kusalya Vidanagama 25/21 and 25/23 to qualify for the finals.
