FIFA Futuro III Educational Programme in Colombo
View(s):The global football governing body, FIFA has selected Sri Lanka as the venue for its FIFA Futuro III Educational Programme for referees and fitness training instructors. The six-day programme began and Hotel Galadari and the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday and will continue up to Wednesday. Representatives of 12 Asian countries including Sri Lanka will participate at the event.
The other countries taking part are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
The FIFA has sent four Referees’ Instructors and two Fitness Instructors to conduct the programme while the 12 participating countries have included three participants each for the course.
The Futuro III training programme focuses on the education of member association instructors under the topics of coaching, refereeing, administration and management and physical training. The course is conducted under a regional format, assembling and educating instructors selected by the member associations from countries in a centralised venue. A maximum of two instructors per member association participates in this course.
The FIFA delegations include Fernando Tresco Gracia of Spain (Senior Manager Referees FIFA), Bennet Stephan Graham of the United Kingdom (FIFA Technical Instructor), Utsumi Toshio of Japan (FIFA Fitness Training Instructor), Mo Rodzali Bin Yacob of Malaysia (FIFA Technical Instructor), Abdul Razak Bin Anuar of Malaysia (AFC Representative), Abdulla Farkhad of Uzbekistan (FIFA Technical Instructor) and Ravichandran Chappanimuttu of Malaysia (FIFA Fitness Training Instructor).
