Mayadunne, Peiris, Adikari, Jeewantha, Premaratne dazzle at Uda Walawe

4th Walawe Supercross

The 4th Walawe Supercross which was held at the Walawe race track saw one of Sri Lanka’s experience drivers Ravi Mayadunne along with Kushan Peiris, Shehan Adikari, Lahiru Jeewantha and Sameera Premaratne dazzle with their superlative driving and riding abilities.

The two drivers and three riders came on top in 11 of the 22 events that were held for the day.
Mayadunne was the most successful as he won three events, the Group T&J Trucks (Forces), Group T&J Trucks & Jeeps Diesel Turbo upto 5500cc and the Group T&J Trucks and Jeeps Open.
Seventeen-year-old Kushan Peiris, son of another top racing driver Dhammika Peiris, and an up and coming lad was the other successful driver who took the first spot in two events.
Ravi Mayadunne who blazed the track with three wins
Kushan like his father who is a specialist in the Ford Laser/Mazda events is following his father’s footsteps as he won both the 1300 and 1500cc events in this category.
Kushan also secured a second place which was in the Group SL-GT 3500cc. The race in fact was stopped midway but the organisers decided to award the placing at the time of stoppage.
In the motorcycle category Shehan Adikari who has taken over the reigns from Gayan Sandaruwan continued his good form by winning two events. They were the Group MX Racing upto 125cc (2T) and upto 250cc (4T) and the Group MX Racing Open 2T&4T (Special Club Event).
Lahiru Jeewantha too won two races coming out first in the Group M – Standard/Modified upto 250cc 2T&4T and Group M Standard/Modified Open 4T (Special Club Event) while Sameera was successful in the. Group MX – Racing Motorcycles 100cc upto 125cc (Forces) and Group MX Racing upto 125cc 2T events.
The 4th Walawe Supercross was conducted by the Sri Lanka Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Regiment (SLEME) along with the Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Club (SLMCC).
