MCA tier ‘B’ T20 from Sep 5
View(s):The Bharti Airtel Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., sponsored, Inaugural MCA Tier ‘B’ T20 Super Tournament will take place on September 5, 6 and 7 at the MCA and Thurstan grounds.
The eight qualifying teams are, John Keells Group ‘B’ (Division ‘D’ winner), Union Bank (Division ‘D’ runners-up), People’s Leasing and Finance PLC (Division ‘E’ winner), HNB ‘B’ (Division ‘E’ runners-up), Commercial Leasing Co., (Division ‘F’ winner), Standard Chartered Bank (Division ‘F’ runners-up), LB Finance (Division ‘G’ winner) and Assetline Group of Companies (Division ‘G’ runners-up)
The quarter-finals will be worked off on Friday, September 5 as follows.
At the MCA Grounds: John Keells Group ‘B’ Vs. Assetline Group (morning) and Standard Chartered Bank Vs. People’s Leasing and Finance PLC (afternoon)
At Thurstan College Grounds: Commercial Leasing Co. Vs HNB ‘B’ (Morning) and Union Bank Vs. LB Finance ‘B’ (afternoon)
The semi-finals will be played on Saturday, September 6 and the final on Sunday, September 7, all at the MCA grounds.
The four special awards on offer are for the Best Batsman, Bowler, Man-of-the Tournament and Man-of-the-Final.
In the tournament held earlier in May for the MCA Tier ‘A’ Divisions from the Premier League, ‘B’ Division and ‘C’ Division teams, sponsored by Bharti Airtel Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., was won by MAS Unichela, beating HNB in the final at the MCA grounds. – LR
