Alluring lighting, especially of the newly built Polduwa arch bridge near Parliament junction, re-carpeting the Galle Face Centre Road and re-grassing of the Colombo Municipal Council, were some of the beautification projects the Sunday Times caught on camera.
A bus halt built at a cost of nearly Rs 2 million close to Parliament Junction near the Polduwa bridge has been shifted so that it could better serve the public.

Roads which were done up for CHOGM in November are being re-done causing traffic snarl-ups and causing road-rage among drivers
“We are surprised that some of the roads which were done up for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in November last year are being redone”, Janka Pathirana an employee of a private company said.
He complained that as a result of the construction work people are regularly delayed getting to their places of work. “Earlier it was the CHOGM and now it is another visit’, he added.
Flags are also seen along the expressway from Katunayaka to Colombo.
Meanwhile Army officials are also preparing for the welcoming parade.
