SriLankan Airlines trounce Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank
View(s):SriLankan Airlines trounced Hong Kong Bank by seven goals to one in an MFA ‘B’ division soccer fixture at the CR and FC grounds recently. At the short whistle SriLankan Airlines had the game well in their grasp with a 4-0 lead.
In the 10th minute, centre half D.V. Weerasinghe got SriLankan Airlines off the ground and two minutes later left extreme D. Fonseka made it 2-0. In the 15th minute Fonseka made it 3-0 and in the 20th minute Weerasinghe booted his second goal to make the score 4-0 at the breather.
After the turn around, Weerasinghe gave the airline their 5th goal in the 37th minute, but five minutes later mid field P. Asiriyage scored the first and only goal for the bankers.
In the 50th minute mid field M.M.I. Nuskhan made the tally for SriLankan Airlines 6-1 and two minutes later left extreme O.B.R. Fonseka booted the final goal to give SriLankan Airlines a 7-1 win.
The game was refereed by M.A. Abddeen while K.A.G. Gunasena was the co-ordinator and Anton Atapattu was match commissioner.
