The ninth edition of Fun Run hosted by the Hilton Colombo Residencies is set to take place in Colombo along a six-kilometre course around Colombo today. The fun run, aimed at promoting the fact of the importance of a healthy life through sports is also a fund raising event where proceeds will be allocated for charity work according to the organisers.

“It will be an exciting event giving opportunity to children and adults to compete and have fun at the same time. Age will be of no barrier for the event as we keenly anticipate imparting message of the importance of maintaining a healthy life through events like running. We are looking at hosting a large number of participants as in the past,” stated Karim Schadlou, the General Manager of Hilton Colombo Residencies.
The fun run will flag off opposite the Hilton Colombo Residencies and will run along Union Place, Rifle Street before it takes a right turn to Malay Street. The run will proceed along Sir Chittampalam A. Gardiner Mawatha and turn right to T.B. Jayah Mawatha before taking the last right turn back to Union Place and finish off opposite the place where it started off. The main run, which is six kilometres long, will be for the adults while for youngsters under the age of 15 will be half of the full course.

The total collection of the entry fees will be given away for charity as stated by the organisers as each participant will be given a complementary t’shirt on the day of the run. All participants will be subjected to a medical test prior to the start of the run.

“We have taken all safety measures with regard to traffic control, medical and other aspects. It can be guaranteed that no participant will be left behind for any reason. We have installed different points but our wish is to see all participants complete the course,” Schadlou added.
Events will be held under Men’s Open and Women’s Open on the six-kilometre course while for Boys and Girls under the age of 15 the course will be of three kilometres. Winners will receive cash rewards.
